About ResidencySpot
Open residency and fellowship vacancies at US teaching hospitals the day they're posted, and a free directory of the programs themselves.
Key facts
Updated , from the live listings and prices.
- As of October 31, 2026, ResidencySpot lists 655 open physician residency and fellowship vacancies and 14,741 residency and fellowship training programs at 763 US teaching hospitals and programs, across 149 specialties; 4 of the vacancies were posted in the last 7 days.
- ResidencySpot has two parts. Its vacancy search lists open positions that programs are filling now, usually off-cycle, outside the NRMP Match. Its program directory, which is free, lists residency and fellowship programs, each with a summary, for applicants planning where to apply in the regular cycle.
- ResidencySpot subscriptions are live. There is a free account and one paid plan:
- Free account (no card needed): up to 3 saved searches, saved vacancies, and a daily email of the new vacancies that match.
- Premium ($39 per month or $99 every 3 months): the full posting, the program's contact details and the application link on every vacancy, the contact details and official page link of every program in the directory, an instant email or Telegram alert the moment a matching vacancy is posted, and up to 20 saved searches.
- Free, with no account: every listing's specialty, track (residency or fellowship), program year where stated, institution, city, state, date and a short summary.
- A subscription can be cancelled at any time from the dashboard, with no fee; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. A first payment is refunded on request within 14 days.
- Vacancies are collected from specialty societies' vacancy boards and hospital career sites, most of them checked every hour; programs come from graduate medical education program directories, checked once or twice a day. A listing is taken down once its source removes it.
- Programs can post an open residency or fellowship position on ResidencySpot themselves, for free, at residencyspot.com/post. A person reads every posting before it is listed, and the program is asked to confirm it is still open at least every 60 days.
- ResidencySpot runs a free swap board at residencyspot.com/swaps for residents and fellows who want to trade places with someone in the same specialty and program year. A listing shows a specialty, a year and a state and names nobody; two residents are given each other's email address only when both agree to be introduced.
- Only physician residency and fellowship training in the United States is listed. ResidencySpot is a listing service: you apply directly to the program.
What ResidencySpot is
ResidencySpot lists open physician residency and fellowship vacancies at teaching hospitals and programs in the United States: the off-cycle places a program fills directly, outside the NRMP Match, and the fellowships programs recruit for on their own schedule. Beside the vacancies it keeps a free program directory: the residency and fellowship programs themselves, from their institutions' graduate medical education directories, each with its specialty, location and a summary.

Its program directory, which is free, lists residency and fellowship programs, each with a summary, for applicants planning where to apply in the regular cycle.
It is a listing and alert service. It is not a program, an employer or an application service, and it does not apply on anyone's behalf: every listing links to the program's own contact and application route.
How listings are found
Vacancies are collected from specialty societies' vacancy boards and hospital career sites, most of them checked every hour; programs come from graduate medical education program directories, checked once or twice a day. A listing is taken down once its source removes it.
Every listing is classified before it is published. Only physician residency and fellowship training is kept; nursing and pharmacy residencies, physician assistant, dental, PhD and research-only posts, moonlighting shifts and attending jobs are rejected.
For programs
A program's entry in the directory summarizes its own public page and links to it. If a listing is wrong or out of date, or a program would rather not be listed, write to support@residencyspot.com and it is corrected or taken down.
A program with an open place can post it here itself, free, at residencyspot.com/post. A person reads each posting before it is listed, it goes to every resident and fellow whose alert matches, and the program can edit it or mark it filled at any time.
